Layton is planning new town centers and mixed use districts alongside its established neighborhoods. We repair and build masonry across the city, from brick repair on existing homes to new walls and columns.
Masonry repair goes better when it starts with what the wall actually is: brick veneer over framing, solid masonry, concrete block, or stone. Each fails in its own way. Veneer, for example, depends on ties back to the structure (BIA Technical Note 3C) and on flashing and weeps that let water drain out (Technical Note 28).
Layton's Layton Forward strategy describes town centers, urban districts and business centers, with mixed use development serving the neighborhoods around them. For homeowners, that means new construction will continue nearby while established homes age in place.
Permits through the Building Division
Layton's Building Division provides permit applications, inspections, and design and checklist resources. Start there for any new wall, column or retaining wall.
