Draper has separate review routes for building, grading and geotechnical work, which matters for retaining walls and hillside projects. We build and repair masonry across the city.
Draper offers distinct applications for building permits, for grading and land disturbance, and for minor geotechnical or major geological review. Which one applies depends on the proposal and the site (Draper Applications & Permits).
Hillside and mapped hazard areas
The city's geotechnical engineering standards include recommendations related to retaining walls and standards for site specific geological investigations. Their rockfall appendix, dated December 2025, requires investigations in mapped special study areas and other specified susceptible locations.
That does not mean every Draper lot has rockfall or unstable slopes. It means you should find out early whether yours is in a mapped area, because it changes what a wall project needs.
It depends on the proposal and the site. Draper has separate grading and geotechnical application routes (Draper); ask which applies before design starts.
